I received a message from my neighbor Rachael last week asking if I would photograph her daughter for her 3rd birthday.  I've told you that photographing children always makes me a little nervous but I knew I wouldn't be nervous with this little girl.

First of all, she feels like family to me.  When I moved to my house 20 years ago, my neighbors across the street were an older couple, Mr. and Mrs. Allen.  Mr. Allen was always outside his garage, working on something.  He was so friendly, had a huge smile and ready to help if asked.  I didn't get to know Mrs. Allen at first, she was inside most of the time, but everyone in the neighborhood loved Mr. Allen.   And then suddenly, Mr. Allen became sick and unexpectedly died. We were all so sad.   After the funeral, I went across the stree...

Am cleaning my desk today and taking care of tasks that I have put off.  Today is "accomplishment" day.  I am going to get rid of some of these stacks once and for all!

The picture I am posting today was taken on my 50th Birthday trip with my favorite girls to Estes Park, Colorado.  I will never forget that trip as long as I live.  Not only was I with my dearest friends, but the scenery was breathtaking.  My friend Angela Reyes has a brother that has a vacation home in Estes Park who very generously trusted 5 crazy women to enjoy during this week long trip.  I took this photo from one of the many decks on this GORGEOUS home.  I probably took 100 photos at this moment because as the clouds moved, the scenery changed.  It was just beautiful.

In my stacks I...

So I knew I loved photography.  I was seriously thinking about pursuing it as a business.  Then boom - a thought came to my spirit.  Boudior Photography.  Where did that come from?  I have no idea.  Not once had I ever even thought of Boudoir Photography in my life.    But I couldn't get it out of my mind.   I opened my laptop and started to research.  I knew immediately I loved what I was seeing.

I was so inspired by the images.  These were photos of women who looked absolutely gorgeous.  And their face reflected that they felt gorgeous.  I knew I wanted to try it.

A few days later, my beautiful daughter Desiree was visiting from Houston.  Whenever Desiree is visiting, her best friend Heather also visits.  We were...

I rarely talk about me.  I never willingly agree to have my picture taken.  But maybe you want to know me a little better?  If not, that's ok.  This will be short.

I worked for the State of Texas for 27 long, long years.  I make it sound bad - some days it was.  But - the job was actually a blessing.  While at that job, I raised two children, got a divorce, re-married, became a mother-in-law and a grandmother.  The job gave me the flexibility to have the money to support my family and also spend time with them.  So you see - it was a blessing - however, I was tired and terribly burned out.

The last 3 of those 27 years, I slowly began to build a photography business.  I had taken pictures of my family for years of course, but I knew it was something...

This day was a long time coming.  I had promised Janie a photo shoot of her grandson's in December, 2014.  It took 8 months for our schedules plus Texas weather to come together.

We had rescheduled several times due to rain.  And here we are again, the day started with a huge downpour.  Not again!  But we weren't scheduled to meet until 6:30 pm.  Luckily by then the rain had stopped.  But you know what that means in South Texas - steamy hot!  But as I've said before - we Texans are acclimated to the hot, steamy, humid weather.  I always assure my clients - I will photoshoot out the sweat on your forehead!!!

I'm not gonna lie - photoshoot with children always make me a bit nervous.  Will they cooperate?  Will they behave?  How long can we hold their...

Well it's been 3 weeks since the lovely wedding of Raymond & Ester.  I am done editing hundreds of photos, except a few need just a touch up and I can deliver to Raymond & Ester who have been so sweet and patient.

This was a July wedding in South Texas so I don't have to tell you it was HOT.  It was steamy hot.  But us Texans can deal with it can't we!  We just keep going.  The ceremony was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halletsville, Texas.  My first question was why in Halletsville?  Ester told me that this church was very special to Raymond as this was his home church and many members of his family were married here, baptized here etc.  Ok - that makes sense!  The priest was so welcoming and sweet and make the ceremony very personal and special.   Huge wedding party!  10 co...

Good Friday morning friends! I started my morning by looking through my photos to find one to use for inspiration today. I have this folder on my computer called "Spring Flowers" I took these pics a couple of years ago in my back yard. I had so many beautiful, blooming plants! I used to spend a lot of time in my back yard - I wanted it to be my sanctuary. Well - then my photography business started to grow. Between working a full time job and building a part time photo...graphy business, my back yard was lucky to be watered! Even now that I've left my full time job, I am so behind on EVERYTHING that my back yard still just gets a sprinkling about once a week. Well looking at these images today have truly inspired me. I am dedicating tomorrow to my yard. I will weed and rake and give it a w...

This past Saturday we braved the South Texas heat for an Engagement photo shoot for Ray and Danielle.  Not real sure how Danielle found me but I'm so glad she did.  At our first meeting I was struck with Danielle's genuine sweetness.  I doubt there is a mean bone in this girls's body!

She told me that she and Ray were an item when they were much younger but ended up going their separate ways.  A few years later, their paths crossed again and this time they both knew it was true love that deserved a forever commitment.   Danille has a son from a prior relationship and Ray has accepted Aiden like his own.  You can certainly see the love, wait not just love - adoration he has for both Danielle and Aiden.

I worry a bit when men and children are part of a photo...

Well, well well - look who's blogging!  Me!  Oh my - I have been so neglectful of blogging!!Why haven't I blogged?  Well, there are a few reasons:

First - I update my facebook page so often that I feel its repetitious to come here and do the same.  Who wants to read the same thing twice?

Secondly - I don't know where to fit it into my day!  I spend so much time editing photos and working on building my business.  Where would I fit this in???

Thirdly (is that a real word?) - who is reading it?  I often wondered if anyone even noticed I was doing this?

But - I have been studying marketing and following successful photographers and they all blog and state that it's imperative in the photography industry.  So - I'm going to make a serious effort to make it happen....
