A RESTFUL WEEKEND

My daughter Desiree’s birthday was this past Monday. My family loves birthdays. We always do them big. Since her birthday fell on a weekday, I told Desiree I would come to Houston on the weekend and celebrate with her. I was so excited about getting away and spending time with my baby.

Early in the week I looked at Pinterest and found some really pretty cakes. I saved several cake photos and planned to go to Cimarron and ask them to make me a beautiful cake for my daughter. What a nice idea that was. I was on the couch late Thursday night when it hit me that I forgot to order the cake. Oh well. I figured I would find a great bakery in Houston.

I arrived in Houston Saturday morning and picked Desiree up. We decided to spend the day at City Centre. They were having their annual Doggy Party on the Plaza with vendors everywhere selling all kind of puppy things. Everyone had their puppies and we enjoyed seeing all the different breeds everywhere. We had lunch on the outdoor patio of a restaurant called The Yard House. We had Moo Shu Egg Rolls as an appetizer and both had Grilled Korean Beef Short Rib tacos. They were so flavorful and delicious! After lunch you KNOW we had to go to the Kendra Scott store. I bought Desiree a bracelet and she bought the matching earrings. We then had fun at Charming Charlie and I can’t go to Houston without going through Z Gallerie. I love to go there and wish I could buy it all. We ended our day at Sweet Paris café where we shared a wonderful lemon crepe with vanilla bean ice cream. That more than made up for me forgetting to buy a cake!

Later that evening we picked up Tony and finished the night with hot wings and beer. What a wonderful day.

Sunday was spent at their house all day. Desiree and I made soap (you read that right), Tony bar-b-qued burgers and I played with their adorable furbaby Scotty. Totally restful and quiet. Just what I needed. And to round off the day, my son Jonathan came up Sunday afternoon. He has medical treatments that are done in Houston that he was to start on Monday morning. So I was so blessed to have both my children with me!

I live a life I don’t need a vacation from. I love what I do. But I was tired and this weekend was a much needed break. Monday morning I will be making my way back home totally refreshed and ready to hit it hard again!

Enjoy this photo of the delicious crepe we enjoyed Saturday. Makes my mouth water just looking at it.
